1. Who we are
Grooming by Ilona (“we”, “us”) is a dog grooming and anaesthesia-free ultrasonic teeth cleaning service based at Unit 5, Southdown Industrial Estate, Harpenden, AL5 1PW. For any privacy question you can contact us at groomingbyilona@gmail.com or on WhatsApp at 07463 688463.
We are the data controller for the personal data collected through this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and your rights under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
2. Data we collect
- Feedback / reviews form: first name, dog breed, service type, rating, review text and any photos you choose to upload. You explicitly consent to publication via the checkbox on the form.
- Booking: bookings are made on Square’s hosted booking page. We do not collect payment or card data on this website. See Square’s privacy notice for details.
- Email / WhatsApp enquiries: any details you choose to send us so we can reply.
- Analytics (only with your consent): if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity collect anonymised usage data such as pages viewed, time on page, device type and truncated IP address.
3. Legal basis
- Contract — to arrange and deliver grooming or teeth cleaning appointments you request.
- Consent — for publishing your review, and for any analytics or non-essential cookies.
- Legitimate interest — to reply to enquiries and keep the website secure.
4. Cookies and tracking
No non-essential cookies or tracking scripts are loaded before you accept them via the cookie banner. Only strictly necessary storage (session, security, your cookie choice itself) is used by default.

5. Sharing your data
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site and the business:
- Supabase (data hosting for reviews, EU region)
- Resend (transactional email for new-review notifications)
- Square (bookings and payments, on their own hosted pages)
- Google / Microsoft / Ahrefs (analytics, only with consent)
6. Retention
- Published reviews: until you ask us to remove them.
- Unapproved reviews: deleted within 30 days if not approved.
- Enquiry emails / WhatsApp: up to 24 months.
- Analytics data: retained per each provider’s default (14 months for GA4).
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Withdraw consent at any time (including cookies)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk)

Request deletion of your data
Under Article 17 of the UK GDPR (“right to erasure”) you can ask us to delete personal data we hold about you — for example a review you submitted, uploaded photos, or an enquiry. We will respond within one calendar month. There is no charge.
Please send the request from the email address you originally used, so we can verify your identity. If you contacted us on WhatsApp, mention that.
You can also request access, correction, or restriction of your data using the same channels. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, signalled on the site.
